Thursday gaming news, part two:

I made treants awkwardly rub shoulders with ringwraiths in the Total War-style RTS roguelike Tabletop Tavern, and I'm surprised as anybody that it worked

Has your mini collection ever been too disparate to flesh out a fully-blooded army, and just thought: "What if all of these guys could get along?" That's the vibe that Tabletop Tavern, a roguelike RTS that has a demo out ahead of its release next week, aims to do.

PlayerUnknown's survival game is shutting down 6 months after launch: 'I have reached the limits of how far I can continue to fund this journey'

Just over six months after its early access debut, PlayerUnknown's survival game Prologue: Go Wayback! has reached the end of the road, as PlayerUnknown Productions is halting work on the project and laying off staff. The studio said that it hopes to return to the game "at a future point in time," but for now, "we will be unable to complete our early access plans."
"We are currently working on an update that we plan to release soon, which will add new items as well as paths and trails to the game for enhanced exploration," the studio wrote on Steam. "With that update, we also intend to release the game out of early access and make it free for any players who want to check it out in the future. We are also investigating offering refunds to players who have purchased the game."

So long suckers! I am leaving to drink heavily and repair cheap cars in Poland

Well well well, look who's come to say goodbye. No use, buster. You won't have ol' Josh Wolens to kick around anymore. I'm off. Gone. Scarpered. My future is a long stretch of road near Białystok and all who ride upon it. I'm a car mechanic now. Also, a drunk. Somehow these things compliment each other.
I've been playing some Cheap Car Repair, is what I'm saying, and I've scraped off just enough rust to realise that this business is my true calling. Set in an anonymous Polish village in the mid-to-late '90s, it's a game of cutting corners, pocketing air filters, blasting Slavic pop and consuming vodka by the litre. I believe it may be a documentary.

Summer Game Fest is here, so get ready for a lot of, 'Ugh, that game with the cool trailer used AI'

Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog unveiled a new trailer for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis during yesterday's State of Play showcase, and fans seemed pretty happy: As one commenter on YouTube put it, "That's the Lara I remember!" But shortly after that, a content disclosure popped up on the game's Steam page, and there was somewhat less happiness about that, because yes: AI is being used in the game's development. (…) To an extent, Tomb Raider's post-trailer Steam disclosure represents the new reality: We're going to be seeing a lot of new games announced over the next several days as Summer Game Fest week gets up to speed, and alongside that we're going to be seeing a lot more of these AI disclosures. If you care about how AI is used in games, watching big showcases is going to become a tiring cycle of excitement, then doubt, then bargaining. Will this game soon post an AI disclosure? Did that game use generative AI instead of hiring concept artists, and then just lie about it?

007 First Light sequels will be 'done by MGM and, theoretically, by Amazon Game Studios,' Amazon exec says

007 First Light is a pretty good James Bond videogame and, by early appearances, a hit, and so it's no great surprise that more of them are going to happen: So says Amazon Gaming general manager Jeff Gattis in a new interview with Polygon. But will IO Interactive be involved in the process? That, apparently, is uncertain.

Here's how to catch the Future Games Show's 40 games and 10 world premieres this June 6

Time was, you used to have to go places to see videogame events. I've been through it myself—a sweltering period in Los Angeles where I spent approximately $6,000 on Ubers and lived off Famous Amos cookies from the hotel vending machine.
But it's the 21st century, and you don't have to deal with all that. When the Future Games Show Summer Showcase airs from LA this June 6 at 12 noon PT / 3 pm ET / 8 pm BST, you'll be able to catch over 40 upcoming games—and 10 world premieres—all from the comfort of your home. Or elsewhere; there's nothing stopping you from going to LA to watch it on your iPad or something, I suppose.

The follow-up to one of my favorite RPGs of the 2020s finally has a demo, and it does not disappoint: Bat people, a mushroom hellscape, and funky JRPG combat from bizarro world 2005

Entropy, the JRPG-style game from Dread Delusion developer Lovely Hellplace, has gotten a playable demo on Steam and an early access release date of August 18. I checked out that demo for myself, and things are looking great for the studio's extremely divergent sophomore effort.
