Action-adventure. The king of genres. And also, arguably, the most amorphous (I think video game fans get a bit too liberal when it comes to lumping things into the category).
Basically, I prefer games that combine the best parts of action (physical challenges and time-sensitive decision-making) with the best parts of adventure (problem-solving, exploration, and storytelling). As a result, I hold franchises like Zelda and Metroid (and Metroidvanias in general) in high esteem.
I also tend to love genres that share things in common with the action-adventure template: action-platformers heavy on exploration and collection; role-playing games, both action-oriented and turn-based; first-person shooters with a strong sense of discovery; etc.
