I'd argue it isn't the appearance of quality, it *is* quality. It's all the little touches: the sleek surfaces, the noiseless fan, the slideless disc tray, the absence of a power brick, free PSN, upgradeable harddrive, the firmware updates which keep unlocking better features. No one of these things is decisive, but put them all together, and the result is pure class. Yeah, they did screw up with rumble, which is finally back, but in all other respects, Sony delivered.

 

Don't forget the touch sensitive buttons. ^_^
