The Tuesday gaming news, part two:
Arc Raiders' latest Riven Tides teaser hints that the terrifying UFO we've been seeing is actually the next mega-boss enemy
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/third-person-shooter/arc-raiders-latest-riven-tides-teaser-hints-that-the-terrifying-ufo-weve-been-seeing-is-actually-the-next-mega-boss-enemy/
Over the past week or so, Arc Raiders has been teasing its biggest update yet on the roadmap, Riven Tides (coming April 28), by emailing players transcripts of a scout's report. Where is the scout, you ask? On the new map, which has long been rumoured as a beachfront and/or shipping yard.

Absent in the blog post but included in the third scout report email is a note that the scout has heard "Something overhead", so is "Finding cover" which seems to be hinting at Riven Tides' second most exciting addition: A new large Arc. This will be similar in scale and challenge to the Queen or Matriarch. From the sounds of it, it's not a land or sea-based Sharc, unfortunately, but likely another flying enemy. Most likely, it's the UFO players have reported seeing in the clouds since the Shrouded Sky update. If that's the case, then it's truly terrifying.
Primal Repairs is basically a handyman sim set in the world of The Flintstones

With so many sim games launching on Steam each week, it can be difficult to stand out. On the face of it, a "handyman simulator" just sounds like more of the same, but Primal Repairs does offer one very strong twist that caught my eye today: it's set in what is basically the world of The Flintstones.
Crusader Kings 3's next major expansions will bring playable Popes and merchant republics
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/sim/crusader-kings-3s-next-major-expansions-will-bring-playable-popes-and-merchant-republics/
After last year's celebrated Chapter Four expansions that extended Crusader Kings 3's map across Asia with systems for playing as Mongolian nomads, Chinese courtly bureaucrats, and god-kings of Indonesia, Paradox isn't resting on its laurels. Today, the studio unveiled its future plans in a Chapter Five reveal video, previewing a pair of major paid DLC aimed at overhauling CK3's religion gameplay and introducing new mercantile playstyles.
RuneScape initiates emergency patch rollback for the most ironic reason possible: Giving players so many runes it would cause 'irreparable economic damage'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/mmo/jagex-initiates-emergency-runescape-rollback-for-the-most-ironic-reason-possible-too-many-runes/
RuneScape developer Jagex was forced to do a "general rollback" of the game earlier today and return all player progression to the point immediately prior to the game's most recent update. The reason? Well, you see, there were too many runes.
Buck Bumble, the Nintendo 64 shooter starring a cyborg bumblebee, is almost certainly getting a remake

British studio Argonaut Games made a bunch of memorable games in the '90s and early 2000s, chief among them the original Star Fox, a Super Nintendo game based on The Ren & Stimpy Show and—who can forget—Croc. It was thanks to the latter that Argonaut Games was reopened in 2024 after a 17 year absence by its founder Jez San, resulting in a remaster of the 1997 3D platformer Croc Legend of the Gobbos. People seem to like it.
Croc is pretty iconic: if you were alive in the '90s and vaguely interested in videogames you'll recognise his whimsical green snout and oddly plaintive eyes immediately. The same cannot be said however, for Buck Bumble. He was the star of a 1998 Nintendo 64 third-person shooter that I had completely forgotten about until, oh, about 45 minutes ago.

"Right about now Buck Bumble is officially your new wholesome 4/20 mascot, and we will not be taking further questions ...at this time," the official Argonaut Games Bluesky account posted. "But stay tuned and BEE sure to follow us for forthcoming news and announcements!"
Animation powerhouse responsible for One Piece and Dragon Ball Z branches into PC gaming with Toei Games
https://www.pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/animation-powerhouse-responsible-for-one-piece-and-dragon-ball-z-branches-into-pc-gaming-with-toei-games/
If you've heard the name Toei before then it's likely from its anime subsidiary Toei Animation that produces One Piece, Dragon Ball, and is responsible for both Sailor Moon and Digimon. For fans of those long-running anime, I'm happy to share the news that Toei is branching into gaming.
Toei Games will first venture into the PC game market "launching games primarily for Steam" according to a press release, although there are plans "for expansion to home consoles such as Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox" later down the line.
Now comes the bad news, Toei Games will not be producing games for its existing series, at least not for the time being. "Our goal is to create a new IP that will captivate the world, starting with games," the press release explains. "The initial lineup of titles, which will be announced at a later date, will not be games using Toei's existing IPs, but rather completely new game titles created by talented creators from Japan and abroad."
>> Bandai Namco having the rigths of those known Ips may have something to do with the games they plan to make.
This week's Crimson Desert update is the one I'm looking forward to the most
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/this-weeks-crimson-desert-update-is-the-one-im-looking-forward-to-the-most/
I've been apart from Crimson Desert for an agonising two weeks thanks to a family holiday, but instead of leaping back into the delightfully weird world of Pywel the moment I got home, I decided to pause my adventure. That's because the next update sounds like it's going to be a doozy.

"We’re currently preparing our next update which will include several features mentioned in last week's Dev Update notice," the studio said on X, "including the addition of a keyboard/mouse and controller preset, difficulty settings, category tabs for your inventory, and more."
Street Fighter 6 somehow patched its incest storyline to make it even shadier than it originally was
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fighting/street-fighter-6-somehow-patched-its-incest-storyline-to-make-it-even-shadier-than-it-originally-was/
If you'd asked me to guess which hill Capcom would choose to die on when it comes to Street Fighter 6, 'one where there's random incest' would not have even been in my top 10 guesses.
(...)
When players began asking the incredibly reasonable question of "Hey, Capcom, what the hell?" Street Fighter 6 director Takayuki Nakayama basically came out and said… sorry if you're confused by the story. But a promise was still made to "revise certain text passages that may have been misleading," which is what happened in a patch last week.
The problem? Alex has now gone from being openly, brazenly incestuous to still being incestuous, but incredibly shady about it.
Please excuse my bad English.
