Dark Souls 2 Path Tracing Mod Beta Released to Everyone
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/dark-souls-2-path-tracing-mod-beta-released-to-everyone/
Dark Souls 2, the time has finally come. Modder ‘Ganaboy’ has released a new beta version of DS2LightingEngine that has support for Path Tracing. As such, you can get your first taste of Dark Souls 2 with real-time Path Tracing.
The mod removes almost all fake lights in the game. As such, torches and items that produce light are invaluable in the early parts of the game. Otherwise, it will be difficult to see your surroundings. The modder has also manually reconfigured most areas and lights for each zone.
To run Dark Souls 2 with Path Tracing, you will need an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 20 series or equivalent AMD/Intel RT capable GPU. NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR4 are both supported.
The modder recommends playing with minimum player light possible. Torch mechanics and light mechanics are crucial in early game, and timers should be preserved as much as possible when not needed. Plus, there is native support for HDR.
Since this is a beta release, you might encounter some bugs and graphical issues. If you encounter any, you should let the modder know about them.
Those interested can download this public beta version of the DS2LightingEngine Mod from Ganaboy’s Discord server. I should also note that the mod is for the Scholar of the First Sin Edition.

Mega Man 64 Unofficial Native PC Port Released
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/mega-man-64-unofficial-native-pc-port-released/
Mega Man fans, here is something really cool for you. An unofficial native PC port of the Nintendo 64 Mega Man game, Mega Man 64, has just come out, and you can download it right now.
This unofficial port will let you experience Mega Man 64 on your PC. Right now, the port supports widescreen monitors, as well as high framerates. I don’t know, though, whether there is proper support for keyboard and mouse.
From what I can see, this is a really early release. As such, you may encounter a bunch of bugs and glitches. There are also some known bugs and issues. For instance, there are level geometry seams. There are interpolation issues for some particle effects, and widescreen support is not yet 100% complete. There can also be some desync issues in cut-scenes.
So, consider this a beta release. This isn’t a full/final release. Yes, it will allow you to play the entire game. However, some of you may prefer to wait for a more advanced version.
For those wondering, no. Capcom and Nintendo will not be able to shut it down. This project does not have any in-game assets. As such, there is nothing the big N can do to take it down.
You can go ahead and download this unofficial PC port of Mega Man 64 from this link.

First Version of Duke Nukem 3D Path Tracing Mod Released
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/first-version-of-duke-nukem-3d-path-tracing-mod-released/
Modder ‘postmemetic’ has released the first version of his Ray Tracing Mod for the classic Duke Nukem FPS game, Duke Nukem 3D. This mod will let you experience the iconic FPS with ray-traced lighting. So, let’s take a closer look at it.
According to the modder, Duke-RT is a fork of Raze that adds a new ray-tracing render backend based on NVIDIA NRI. It still builds on Raze’s existing support for Build-engine games, but this fork focuses on path tracing, RT renderer bring-up, lighting authoring, custom material creation, denoising and upscaling integration, and backend diagnostics. It also includes tools and overlay workflows that allow users to create their own material and lighting rules for Duke content.
Keep in mind that Duke-RT is still a work in progress. The core renderer is already implemented, with full support for modern graphics APIs and technologies like D3D12, DLSS Super Resolution, and Ray Reconstruction. The modder has also remastered Episode 1 with PBR materials, based on the original assets, along with updated lighting. Episodes 2 and 3, however, are not yet finished. So, if you want the full ray-traced experience across the entire game, you’ll need to wait until those episodes are completed.
In future versions, postmemetic also plans to add volumetrics such as rocket smoke. He will improve water surfaces, and he will implement proper mirror replacements. Plus, we can expect better glass effects.
If you want to try the mod, you can go ahead and download it from this link. To run it, you must own Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour. Otherwise, the mod will not work.
>> This mod is also from Github and there’s a short video of it in the article.
