This GTA data is very different from other data (official from what I recall) I read somewhere showing PC being much closer to Playstation in player engagement. But it covered a different period.

PC numbers here are shockingly low. Xbox numbers are excellent and show that the platform is far from dead. Xbox One's relative player retention in the US may be even better than PS4's, but it's at the expense of weaker Series X/S adoption vs PS5.

PS4 has nearly double the average player count than the XBO, which match global instalbase, but those on XBO spend more than those on PS4.

My guess is, based on how high spending is on PS5, that most of the playerbase willing to spend on it was also willing to upgrade to the PS5, so that's why it's so high there and comparatedly lower on PS4, the split is clear from people willing to spend less just staying in the PS4 too.

Player retention is slightly better on Xbox One. Big spender retention is much better on Xbox One, although yes this mostly means that there is less excitement among Xbox gamers to upgrade.

Interestingly though, Xbox spending per customer is higher on both consoles than Playstation. Live service games remain huge on Xbox.
