The thing is, the first point never really happened. It was a bad headline extrapolating the capacity of a single producer right now vs. the highest possible demand years into the future. Just bad PC journalism and ragebaiting from the start.
Now people think some Google paper that actually came out one year ago is responsible for price drops... when on all likelihood it's just normal market dynamics since, as I mentioned a few months ago, RAM supercycles are always shorter than predicted.
