The games I most wanted to love were Mario 64, Wind Waker, and Morrowind. I would keep playing these games, trying to give them the most chances I could, because I really love 8/16-bit Mario and Zelda and RPGs are my favorite genre. But the more I tried to love these games, the more I ended up hating them. Now I find all 3 of these games to be hot garbage that I loathe from the very core of my being.
Ironically, I game I really wanted to hate was Final Fantasy 13. FF was my favorite series, I bought FF13 on day 1, and it was obvious from the beginning that this game was terrible. So, I kept playing it in order to make fun of the game and process my hate for it. But it turns out after you get past the first 20-25 hours, the game actually becomes really good. I ended up playing FF13 over 100 hours and I was left wanting more. It's really too bad that such a great game is gatekept behind 20 or so hours of total trash.
curl-6 bet me that PS5 + X|S sales would reach 56m before year end 2023 and he was right.
