Few months ago, RAM cost a lot less than it does now. Not excusing it but they aren't immune to that rise either. There is only so much absorbing the cost they can do when RAM makers are no longer prioritising consumer products.

Sony aren't paying the higher RAM and SSD costs... Ergo they aren't "absorbing anything".


Sony have a contract with supply manufacturers for a fixed price/supply agreement for a set term, when that needs to be re-negotiated, that's when we get shafted.
I would envisage that would happen at the start of the financial year.
