Israeli army says more than 20 Hezbollah fighters killed

The Israeli army says it killed more than 20 Hezbollah fighters in southern Lebanon on Wednesday. It said the fighters were killed by the Israeli Army’s 36th Division and in air attacks.

Since Monday, the Israeli military has launched air raids across southern Lebanon after announcing “targeted ground operations” against Hezbollah positions.

More than a million Lebanese people have been displaced from their homes.

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said on Monday he would not allow the return of people to the country’s south until the safety of Israelis is guaranteed.

Hezbollah reports battles with Israeli troops in south Lebanon

Hezbollah says its fighters have clashed with Israeli ground troops who were attempting to advance in south Lebanon, from the town of Taybeh towards the Baydar al-Fuqani area, deploying missiles and destroying six Israeli Merkava tanks.

Hezbollah also said it launched three separate rocket attacks on the northern Israeli city of Kiryat Shmona and targeted Israeli troops in Khirbet al-Manara, opposite the border town of Hula, and at the Misgav Am site opposite the border town of Odaisseh.
