ANTI-WAR PROTEST IN AMSTERDAM: Massive Women’s Day Rally Backs Palestine And Iran
Thousands of demonstrators gathered in Amsterdam on Sunday to mark International Women’s Day while expressing solidarity with Palestinians and the people of Iran. Protesters filled Dam Square before marching through central streets including Rokin, Vijzelstraat and Weteringschans and later assembling at Museumplein.
Footage from the rally showed participants waving Palestinian flags and carrying banners calling for peace, justice and equality.
According to local media, the demonstration was organised by several groups focused on women’s empowerment, including ActionAid Nederland, Amnesty International Netherlands, Atria, Bureau Clara Wichmann, Dolle Mina and FNV. International Women’s Day, observed annually on March 8, highlights women’s achievements and ongoing struggles for gender equality, with the United Nations setting this year’s theme as “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls.”
