Gold/Silver/Crystal. The later games I’ve tried were too generic and they made them too easy. Red/Blue/Yellow were also very good but had too many bugs and were extremely unbalanced.
I prefer the simplistic sprites of gen 1 and 2 to the newer games too. Gen 2 is really just perfect for their time and very addictive.
