Estimations for Marathon first weekend (on pc):
The most interesting part of that picture to me is that before the release of the game the estimation was for the game to sell 260k in it's first month based in wishlistings (Marathon was #32 in wishlistings before release) and also most pre orders were from the USA with over 50% of sales so the game surpassed that estimation and the distribution by country balanced a little.
On PS5 obviously there's not a lot of info other than the rating:
Among developers there's a believe that around 3% of the people who buy a game will leave a review, obviously that's just an stipulation but using that inexact math we would be talking of MAYBE 200k+ copies on PS5.
I wouldn't go to the extend of calling it a success because only Sony knows what they were expecting based in everything that has happened since the announcement of the game but it looks healthy, it is selling and the fact that the game is good helps a lot. It also looks like the server slam actually purged the game from people who were only there to see it "releasing already dead", so that's also good news. One of the benefits of a game having a price.
This was the rating of the server slam on PS5:
I understand it wasn't perfect but I'm of the idea that if you have the need to put one star in a game is because you really shouldn't have played that game and you knew it lol.
Anyway, hopefully these results give Bungie a break and I would be really curious to know even an estimation of Marathon sales on xbox lol.
