That's definitely something I hope comes out of this. Sony sees that Bungie still has what it takes and is willing to let them make a Destiny 3 or whatever Bungie decides to work on next. Because with Destiny 2 now on life support, and nothing indicating Marathon will come anywhere close to Destiny's player numbers in popularity, the biggest thing Marathon can be is the playerbase regaining confidence in Bungie. So far, the game is off to a great start in that sense.
