I do wonder to what extent Azerbaijan might get involved. Azeris form the largest minority with Iran and are a majority a several regions in the North-West of the country.
If they had a free choice, would those Azeri rather live as part of Iran or Azerbaijan? If the latter, would they think this is a realistic opportunity to breakaway?
