Let’s go with the Friday gaming news:
SALES/PLAYER COUNTS & DEALS
'5,000,000 Henrys' and they're all quite hungry: KCD2 has sold gangbusters since its launch last year
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/5-000-000-henrys-and-theyre-all-quite-hungry-kcd2-has-sold-gangbusters-since-its-launch-last-year/
A mere week after Warhorse celebrated Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's first birthday with some fun statistics, it's dropped another big one: KCD2 has sold 5 million copies since its release last year. I suspect it's probably more chuffed with this stat than the ones about players doing several million drunken murders (though that's worthy of pride too).
"Five million Henrys are now adventuring in Bohemia," wrote Warhorse on X, terrifyingly. "KCD2 has officially reached this massive milestone and it is all thanks to you. Our community is growing every single day and we couldn't be more excited to have you with us. Thank you for making this journey unforgettable!"
For comparison, KCD1 sold about 2 million copies in the first year of its release, and had sold 8 million by November 2024. So while KCD2 might not quite have outpaced its predecessor, at the rate it's going it won't be long until it has.
Arc Raiders had nearly 1 million concurrent players in January, and around 6 million 'weekly active users', claims Nexon—putting the extraction shooter on par with some of the biggest MMOs
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/third-person-shooter/arc-raiders-had-nearly-1-million-concurrent-players-in-january-and-around-6-million-weekly-active-users-claims-nexon-putting-the-extraction-shooter-on-par-with-some-of-the-biggest-mmos/
Arc Raiders has, by all accounts, done rather quite well for itself. Shooting past 12 million players worldwide back in January, a recent investor presentation reveals that 2026 got off to a bang for the hottest extraction shooter on the block (thanks, Eurogamer).
A slide relating to the game itself claims the following—firstly, that Arc Raiders hit a concurrent player peak of 960,000 players in January, and "approximately six million weekly active users sustained to date". The exact minutiae of what "sustained" means isn't clear, but that nigh-on 1 million isn't too far from reality.
On Steam alone, Arc Raiders hit an all-time peak of 481,966 players. Factor in consoles and other digital platforms, and you could certainly hit 1 million concurrents across the board.
Data from Newzoo also looks to more-or-less verify the count, claiming January peaks of daily active users of around 1.6 million on Steam, 1.5 million on PlayStation, and just under 1 million on Xbox.

The latest Steam beta lets you give Valve your frame rate data, focusing on SteamOS devices to 'learn about game compatibility'
https://www.pcgamer.com/hardware/the-latest-steam-beta-lets-you-give-valve-your-frame-rate-data-focusing-on-steamos-devices-to-learn-about-game-compatibility/
With the oncoming approach of multiple Valve devices and the wider adoption of SteamOS, Valve is looking to collect frame rate data in the hopes of improving compatibility.
As mentioned in the recent Steam client beta patch notes, it has "Added the option to provide anonymized frame rate data. When enabled, Steam will collect gameplay frame rate data, stored without connection to your Steam account but identified with the kind of hardware you are playing on."
Reportedly, the data gained will help Valve improve game compatibility and Steam, in return. Valve says, "This feature is currently in beta with a focus on devices running SteamOS."

This 8-bit Morrowind from someone with 'no experience with game making' will run on your actual Game Boy Color and is genuinely kind of great
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/the-elder-scrolls/this-8-bit-morrowind-from-someone-with-no-experience-with-game-making-will-run-on-your-actual-game-boy-color-and-is-genuinely-kind-of-great/
I have one job here at PC Gamer and it's this: reminding you all that I really like Morrowind quite a lot. They tell me that's "not a personality," in response to which I begin levitating.
Anyway, today's Morrowind news is this: someone's making a version for the Game Boy. Not "someone made a Game Boy-styled recreation," someone is actually going through the trouble of making a cut-down Morrowind you can run on a literal Nintendo Game Boy Color.
From Jordanly on Itch.io, The Elder Scrolls Travels: Morrowind is a free, bitesize Morrowind experience made in GB Studio. A confession: it was actually made some time ago, but it got a fresh update yesterday that brought it to my attention, and now I'm bringing it to yours.
"I've seen and played a few Gameboy demakes before and I thought it would be fun if there was a demake of Morrowind," writes Jordanly in a blog post accompanying the game's earliest iterations. "I have no experience with game making, but for some reason I decided to try."
The result is… kind of fantastic? Make no mistake—this isn't the entire Morrowind experience condensed down onto a GB cartridge, but you can pick a race (and one of three heads for each one) and a class, meander through Seyda Neen, even take a silt strider (which you pilot! Yourself!) to Vivec to check out Miun-Gei's wares (I'm reasonably certain Miun-Gei does not, as of the current patch, have wares).
