The feeling of having a whole community of people on the internet joining alongside you at the launch of a game is the biggest motivator for me purchasing and playing at launch. There was once a period in my life where I purchased nothing at launch, but I started to feel very lonely in my gaming hobby, and new reveals would never excite me.
That said, I only purchase games I’m a big fan of at launch… so Nintendo and whatever cutesy platformers you can think of. Anything and everything else, I either do not purchase or grab at bargain bin prices.
