Playing Aces of Thunder on PSVR2.
Very cool to fly WW2 planes in VR, however the game play is not very good. Plenty planes to fly and look around in but I'll mainly stick to free flight. Stunt flying and landing is great fun in VR.
Missions are a mess and complete themselves before you can tell what's going on. Bombing without getting any feedback whether you hit anything just isn't fun. There's no enemy indication either and friendly warning only turns up when you're very close. So basically it's guess work what dot to go after. After a dozen runs on enemy tanks, which all turned out to be friendly at the last second, I resorted to practicing landing while the mission just played out on its own, victory... There is a mini map with some sort of enemy indication but it's zoomed out while it's already a tiny map at your feet in the plane :/
When will devs learn VR doesn't automatically improve game play, you still got to bring the game play. I can get over the atrocious menu design and terrible control setup (which you have to do on TV, near impossible with the sense controllers), the zero availability of any tutorial beyond 3 slides with the basics of aviation, weird glitches where your virtual hands fly along outside the plane if you play with Dualsense or Hotas and other graphical glitches. I can not get over the throw you into a mission without any info nor indication where to go, which then auto completes itself in as short as 6 minutes.
But plenty planes to try out in free flight, gonna find more bridges to fly under and hangars to fly through :)
