The Vita was my first handheld console and I was rather impressed with the hardware but it also made me realize that I have very little interest in that type of gaming. If I'm away from home then I'd rather bring an ebook or a tablet, where I can disengage instantly and pay more attention to my surroundings. I did not like immersing myself in a game around strangers. If I'm at home, I would much rather play on my PC.
I did get some good use out of it when the power was out for a few days during a hurricane but that doesn't happen often.
I have considered both the Switch and the Steam Deck--being able to play my Steam library is a huge bonus--but I just can't imagine using it all that much.
