We could get a platformer for the holiday season. It's been over a year since Shadow Generations which was one release with a remaster of Sonic Generations. But also keep in mind that there was 5 years between Sonic Forces and Sonic Frontiers. That is the biggest gap to date in the main series. The next main Sonic game could wait until 2027 or 2028. IMO I believe Sega has finally learned their lesson on not rushing out a game to meet some arbitrary deadline e.g. "Sonic's 15th Anniversary." This was even seen with the release of Sonic Frontiers, which was originally slated for Holiday 2021 but was granted an extra year b/c the lead produced begged on his hands and knees for an extension.
My prediction: Sonic Unleashed Remastered this year, Sonic Frontiers 2 revealed and given a 2027 release window (though most likely won't release until Holiday 2027). After all, this would tie the Sonic 4 Movie together very well with the Sonic Frontiers 2 release.
