I was going to say it’s difficult to decide whether Ubisoft is worse than Activision, but then I remembered that I have absolutely no faith in anything developed by Ubisoft (e.g. Rayman), whereas Activision still piques my interest every so often (e.g. Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Tony Hawk, Skylanders). Ubi might just be the only game dev I never have any excitement for… with the exception of Mario+Rabbids, though that’s mostly because Nintendo co-develops. |
Of the most recent Ubisoft games that were legit good was Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and Ubisoft rewards the team by disbanding them and cancelling a sequel.
Even with Ubisoft's tentpole franchises like Assassin's Creed and Far Cry, they still follow modern gaming traditions of always-online requirements and microtransactions. Things that don't belong in single-player games. Even The Lost Crown had an always-online requirement.
