According to Jez over at Windows Central, a few users started to notice a pop up that said “1 hour of ad-supported playtime per session” when they were launching games via Xbox Cloud Gaming. This in turn led to fears that ads would be rolled out across all existing tiers of the service, but according to Jez – who has reported on this previously – that isn’t the case.

Per Jez, “While seeking clarification about this message, it was confirmed to me that the ads will appear separately on Xbox Cloud Gaming, for those who have purchased Xbox games digitally, but don’t have Xbox Game Pass….It remains to be seen exactly when this will roll out, but I’m told it’s coming ‘this year.’
