First 2026 Version of Half-Life Black Mesa: Military Released

In January 2025, we informed you about Black Mesa: Military. This is a mod that lets you experience the events of Half-Life from the point of view of a marine. And a couple of days ago, its creator released its first 2026 version.
In this mod, you and your squad have to secure the Black Mesa Research Facility and eliminate any hostile forces. You’ll see the whole disaster from the villains’ side and even come face-to-face with Gordon Freeman himself.
In a way, this project is similar to Half-Life: Opposing Force. Opposing Force portrayed the events of Half-Life from the perspective of a U.S. Marine, one of the enemy characters in the original game. Of course, you don’t control the same marine. Still, both this mod and Opposing Force share the same concept.
This first 2026 version comes with a total major overhaul and remaster of chapter 4 “Escalation”. Chapters 5-8 have also been remastered. Black Mesa: Military 2026 brings new weapons, more dialogues for earlier chapters, AI improvements for the marines, and a number of bug fixes.
If you are a fan of the Half-Life universe, you should definitely check it out. You can go ahead and download the mod from this link. Sadly, the modder has not released any new trailer for it. Thus, I’ve decided to include below its old 2024 trailer.

Two new quest mods have been released for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition. These mods offer over 7 hours of new free content to the game. As such, I highly recommend downloading them as they can further enhance and extend your gaming experience.
These two quest mods are The Steep Descent and The Rot Below. The Steep Descent is a fun New Year–themed quest. In this mod, you help a beautiful girl in trouble, explore old forgotten ruins, solve interesting puzzles, and earn special rewards that most people wouldn’t expect.
The Steep Descent comes with over 800 voice lines, various dialogues, and scenes. It has several challenging and one fun battle. Furthermore, you will find a few items with their own story, new books, and gifts. It’s a fun mod that some Skyrim fans may appreciate.
On the other hand, The Rot Below lets you uncover the secrets of a mad lich who believed they were a god. You will explore an ancient palace, a hidden underground city filled with the undead, and a crazy warlock’s research hall. The mod includes three boss fights, a fully voiced story, new weapons, and many new enemies to face.
The Rot Below features over 350 professionally voiced lines and tells a story filled with ambition, betrayal, and redemption. The mod takes about 3–6 hours to finish and includes two different endings, giving you plenty of room for roleplay. It also adds a huge new dungeon to explore. You’ll fight through a mad warlock’s research hall, an ancient lich’s palace, and a haunted city of scholars. The mod also includes many terrifying new enemies, each created just for this quest.
Players will find several new weapons, including three magical swords with glowing blades and strong enchantments. There are also new Conjuration spells that let you control the power of rot and summon creepy new undead allies. On top of that, the mod adds new music, including spooky ambient strings, a dark gothic organ, and beautiful vocals.
