Heroes of Might and Magic III
Turn based strategy do not get better than this. Even if I can see many flaws with this game, probably more than any other game reaching my top 20, I have to recommend it. The different fractions catches the fantasy feeling greatly. The resource handling and tactical elements demand strategic thinking not mastered even after several play throughs. The higher difficulty levels will feel impossible. But know that they are not.
If you like turn based strategy in a fantasy setting of knights and dragons give it a try. But beware, when you think you only played for an hour you will find out that it is already midnight.
