Sony may have done a good job (considering the material they had) with this presentation, but still not good enough to get out the craphole they stuck themselves at.

Yeah that's how I think this plays for Sony overall. Even if Sony had the best show they really needed to do a better job than that. All they showed was that they are going to give MS one hell of a fight for 40 million or so hardcore segment. They really needed to show they have an idea about how to capture the 100+ million market they used to dominate.

Sony is still very much in it's first year.  At the price, they have to justify it for the hardcore.  From what I captured of the Nintendo conference, they don't really care about the hardcore crowd and they are trying to get as many sales as they can now.  I truthfully don't see the Wii with a long life and the price is in that bracket that it's ok.  Replacing a Wii in 4-5 years is much easier to accept than a $5-600 purchase.  When the price starts to lower and HDTV sales start picking up, then you may see Sony market to the "casual" market but there's no real need right now, in my honest opinion.  Sony is fighting for that HD market.  They want to prove that you want a Wii and PS3 instead of a Wii and 360.
