I only played 1 stage of Earthion so I can't say yet. Normally I'd always put a Xenoblade game here if it released that year. I love X and put over 1000 hours in both the Wii U & Switch version combined. It is a remaster of a game I played before tho so make it an honorable mention.

1. Ninja Gaiden II Black.

I only played Sigma 2 before this and it kinda sucked. IIB while built on Sigma returns the game closer to the original while improving on everything. I sunk so much time into this game. One of the best games in the genre. It looks great as well.

2. Raidou Remaster.

It's kind of a remake as they fine tuned everything and redid the visuals. I have 2 on PS2 sealed but was waiting to play 1 first. Now I have. I hope 2 remaster is announced next year. While I like SMT a lot. This is so different from those while retaining familiar elements. It's such a great game and a good ARPG. If you like capturing monsters to fight monsters, Action RPGs and detective stories why are you not playing this? It's fantastic!

3. Ninja Gaiden 4

. Any shocker? I been hyped for this all year. I love PG and NG and the genre of stylish action. PG making NG? Who put peanut butter in my chocolate? It sounds obvious in text but when you play it then it makes more sense than you think. It plays as if PG made a NG game. It feels both like a PG game and a NG game. My only gripe is not enough varied locations. Only about 5-6. Also not a complaint but if you played Devil May Cry 4. This game is almost a clone not in gameplay but we have out Nero as the main guy the first chunk of the game. Then our Dante/Ryu. Fights in the same stages as before. We have our giant boss on platforms fight. Still a great game.

4. Daemon X Machina Titanic Scion.

I loved the first game as a arcadey Armored Core with mechs and mission based. The sequel takes a different approach. They are Exo suits instead of mechs. The mechs are temp power ups. Like a devil trigger in DMC. Much like the first game you have all kinds of customization options from your character to your suit. The game is open world. In many ways it's like Xenoblade Chronicles X. It feels almost like a sequel. So if you love that game and want more this is as close as you can get tho it's pure action combat. I sank 160 hours in this game. You don't need that many to finish it. I just liked it that much.

5. Metal Eden.

From the same devs as the great Ruiner. Metal Eden is a FPS set in the same universe. It's kinda Sci Fi doom. The levels are just for going from one arena to the other for intense combat. As you progress you can choose what to upgrade in a skill tree. You play as Aska, a hyper unit woman. She is tasked with taking down rogue AI enemies and bosses. She is a total badass. She rips cores (basically their brain) from enemies and can either weaponize it against them as bombs or absorb it to gain health and armor plus a knock out punch. She has many weapons you get over the game. You upgrade them of course. Even your starting weapon is pretty solid. Some segments let you turn into a ball like Samus. It's a really good game and worth checking out.
