I feel similarly. I recently dragged that thing back out for my daughter because she grew up with that gen and wanted to play Nuts and Bolts (it was a childhood thing for her) and yeah... it's a quality console. The thing I am most surprised with is just how little games have advanced since then. While she was playing, I never felt like I was watching someone play an old game. She even echoed these sentiments just as I was about comment about it.
It's a real shame MS is abandoning consoles. Yes, they are a heartless, soulless company, but those first two consoles were legit.
