The main reason Sony (and Nintendo) are struggling to win is that 3rd party studios stepped up their game and the industry at large is growing much faster than 1st party studios. The correlation between quality games and exclusives/1st party is weakening.
Exclusives used to dominate my favorite game lists. Not anymore.
