He is British not American, though I suppose he did indirectly protect the US from fascism by resisting its advance through Europe and fighting alongside the Americans; had the UK fallen, I expect Hitler would have looked to the US next.

We'll all be the same way when we reach his age.  

Things aren't like they used to be!
