Israeli army warns of upcoming attacks on two Lebanese villages

An Israeli army spokesperson has warned that the country will carry out attacks in the southern Lebanese villages of Deir Kifa and Chehour.

In a post on X, the spokesperson shared maps pinpointing several buildings he said would be targeted in the towns, and warned civilian residents to immediately evacuate the areas.


Israeli air raids hit southern Lebanese villages

Lebanon’s National News Agency reports that Israeli warplanes have carried out attacks in the southern villages of Deir Kifa and Chehour, around an hour and a half after Israel’s military warned it would target buildings there.

In a post on X, Israel’s military confirmed attacks are under way in southern Lebanon, targeting what it claims is infrastructure used by Hezbollah.


‘Panic’ in southern Lebanese villages before Israel struck

The Israeli army has [told] residents of two villages in southern Lebanon – Deir Kifa and Chehour – to leave or move away from buildings they have designated as Hezbollah’s military infrastructure. More often than that, that means people’s homes.

Israel has continuously targeted Hezbollah’s personnel and assets, and even Palestinian factions and their assets over the past year without warning. So when they do this [issue warnings], it really has a psychological effect, creating chaos and panic.

We understand that parents have rushed to schools close to these buildings to take their children home. Other people packed whatever they could take and left the village. They’ll have to wait for hours before returning.

This is all about saying who is in control – that is the message.

Israel military hits three buildings in southern Lebanon, warns of attacks in two more

In the past few minutes, the Israeli military destroyed up to three buildings in two towns in southern Lebanon after issuing threats for them.

Also in the past few minutes, an Israeli army spokesperson issued yet another evacuation threat, telling people who live in two other towns in southern Lebanon [Tair Filsay and Aynata] to leave and posting a map on social media showing exactly which building they intend to hit.

A social media clip, which has been verified by Al Jazeera, shows the moment Israeli air strikes hit a building in the southern Lebanese village. The Israeli army had threatened attacks on the village roughly 90 minutes prior to the strike.
