Finally finished Alan Wake 2. I think overall it's a somewhat unremarkable game.
I wanted to write my overall impressions of this game but decided against it. Essentially, it is this: the game has strong vibes and atmosphere, with some largely good graphics. Night time and lighting is a plus.
Story is so-so. It's interesting, but considering the game forces you to od a new game pluys run to unlock the final minutes of the last cutscene is just annoying.
Gameplay sucks. Combat is not that interesting. Navigation is slow, especially in the forest areas where even small changes in elevation forces the character to just stop. The Mind Place mechanic, which is very important in the game, is just straight up boring, and frankly feels added to artificially extend gameplay hours. The game would've been better without it, or at the very least a more streamlined version of what it is.
I can't say I'd reccomend it to anyone. Even as a free title on PS+ I can't say I felt it was worth my time. That said, the 2 DLC packs look really cool, so maybe those elevate the entire experience.
I dunno... I expected a better game here. But I'm glad I had a chance to experience it since I really loved Control.
