‘Are these not war crimes?’: Trump ally denounces Israeli attacks

US Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Trump ally and prominent figure in his Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement, has slammed Israel’s killing of more than 100 Palestinians in Gaza, including 46 children.

“46 CHILDREN!!!” she wrote on X. “Are these not war crimes?”

The Republican lawmaker has become increasingly outspoken in her criticism of Israel’s war on Gaza, describing it as a genocide. That has drawn the ire of prominent pro-Israel groups in the US, including the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).

Her remarks have highlighted a widening schism in the Republican Party as polls show growing numbers of US voters are now questioning the country’s unwavering support for Israel as it wages war on Gaza.

The US provides its top ally with billions of dollars in military aid, as well as key diplomatic support.

‘Appalling’: Israel’s mass killing in Gaza denounced by UN rights boss

United Nations human rights chief Volker Turk has denounced Israel’s attack on Gaza and called on the international community to not waste this “opportunity for peace and a path towards a more just and secure future”.

“Reports that over 100 Palestinians were killed overnight in a wave of Israeli air strikes – mainly on residential buildings, IDP tents and schools across the Gaza Strip following the death of an Israeli soldier – are appalling,” he said in a statement.

“The laws of war are very clear on the paramount importance of protecting civilians and civilian infrastructure.”

Turk urged Israel to comply with its obligations under international humanitarian law and to be held accountable for any violations.

“It is distressing that these killings occurred just as the long-suffering population of Gaza started to feel there was hope that the unrelenting barrage of violence may be at an end,” he said.

Turk also called on all parties to the war to act in good faith and implement the ceasefire.

UN chief ‘strongly condemns’ Israeli attacks on Gaza

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has denounced “killings, due to Israeli air strikes, of civilians in Gaza yesterday, including many children”, his spokesperson says.

“He condemns all actions that undermine the ceasefire and endanger civilian lives,” Stephane Dujarric told reporters at UN headquarters in New York City.

Guterres also stressed that commitments to uphold the ceasefire must be upheld, and any acts that harm civilians or obstruct humanitarian aid “must be avoided”, Dujarric said.

“The secretary-general commends the ongoing diplomatic efforts of Egypt, of Qatar, of Turkiye and of the United States, whose engagements have been critical in sustaining the agreement, preventing further escalation and enabling increased humanitarian access.”

Will the UN do anything though.., nope.
