Consoles were good as long as they offered a cheap way to play video games.
Playstation 1 & 2 were cheap devices that most people played pirated games on them.
Playstation 3 was also a relative cheap console that you could play 20$ video games if you waited for prices to drop.
Playstation 4 was like PS3 with floor prices of games on 30$.
I think this will change with next generation consoles.
With speculated prices of consoles on 700$ range and 70$/80$ games, it makes them an expensive habit like PC gaming.
