Qatar’s emir, PM meet Trump as US Air Force One stop to refuel

US President Donald Trump’s Air Force One carrier has landed in Qatar.

Flanked by Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Trump says they have done “a lot together, especially in the last year”.

“What we’ve done is incredible. Peace to the Middle East and they were a very big factor in this and I just want to thank [them],” Trump said. “I was thinking we’re landing here, we’re going to fuel up [and] it’s such an honour to have you on the plane,” he added.

Trump calls for ‘enduring peace’ in Gaza

US President Donald Trump says efforts to stabilise Gaza are advancing with an international force to be deployed in Gaza soon.

“This should be an enduring peace,” Trump told reporters when asked about the situation in Gaza.

Trump, who met with the leaders of Qatar during a short refuelling stopover, said Doha would be willing to contribute peacekeeping troops if needed and praised the country as a great ally and a key player in regional stability.
