Just want to point out that Proton isn't an emulator. It is a compatibility layer. This is important because compatibility layers are much less intensive than emulators, and can achieve very close to native performance when mature. 

But yeah, Windows has a lot of bloat. 

Edit: Windows' main market these days is in client work-devices. They have essentially made their consumer OS free as it is. The server space has been on Linux for decades.
