Israel kills 11 Palestinian family members in Gaza’s deadliest truce breach
Israeli forces have killed 11 members of a Palestinian family in Gaza, the deadliest single violation of the fragile ceasefire since it took effect eight days ago.
The attack happened on Friday evening when a tank shell was fired by Israeli forces at a civilian vehicle carrying the Abu Shaaban family in the Zeitoun neighbourhood of Gaza City, according to Gaza’s civil defence.
Seven children and three women were among those killed when the Israeli military fired on the vehicle as the family attempted to reach their home to inspect it, Civil Defence spokesperson Mahmoud Basal said in a statement.
“They could have been warned or dealt with differently,” Basal said, adding that “what happened confirms that the occupation is still thirsty for blood, and insists on committing crimes against innocent civilians.”
Most Palestinians do not know where the “yellow line” is because they do not have access to the internet, they do not have phones, and this is why this happened to this family.
The 11-member Abu Shaban family was going back to their house after being displaced multiple times, and as they were going to settle in their house, they were killed. Among those who have been killed from the family are 10-year-old, six-year-old, five-year-old, and eight-year-old Palestinian children.
Israeli forces have been very strict about the yellow line, and they have attacked several Palestinians since the beginning of the ceasefire. At least 28 Palestinians have been killed, and all of these have been Palestinians who reached or went through the yellow line.
Now there was another attack on another Palestinian in Khan Younis. He was on a motorcycle when the Israeli drones targeted him.
Nine bodies recovered from Gaza City
Gaza’s Civil Defence has reported recovering the bodies of nine people following an Israeli bombardment targeting displaced people in the Zeitoun neighbourhood of Gaza City yesterday.
The bodies of the other two people killed in the attack, which killed 11 in total, were recovered yesterday, as we reported.
Israel has killed 28 people since the ceasefire went into effect, many of them for allegedly crossing the so-called “yellow line”, demarcating areas of Israeli army control.
