Such a strange video. The steam deck is a 800p handheld and that is the mode people use surely. Also why is the video comparing docked performance of Switch 2 with systems designed for purely portable use? I have zero interest in seeing what the Steam Deck can do in 1080p. I want to see a comparison of how they all perform in portable mode only. Why is Cyberpunk not being shown in 720p for its performance mode which is upscaled from 640x360p on the LCD panel? Also now there is FSR4 and frame gen support on Steam Deck so surely that is how you would compare them as the best level of performance for Steam Deck. It's a strange video to say the least. It should compare all three systems with their best settings for portable use only. It would also be useful to know how long the battery lasts for each system. I've learned more about the content creator with this video than I have learnt anything about these gaming systems.

Basically the comparison should show a blank screen for the Switch 2 because it's still plugged into the dock so not able to play any games on the go with this performance. It's like a PC enthusiast showing a 20 Teraflop GPU PC compared to Switch 2 in portable performance mode. Totally ridiculous and unfair.

I do agree about using the FSR4 mod. Having said that, Digital Foundry also uses 720p for its Steam Deck comparisons, and that is likely to keep the aspect ratio in these comparisons like to like with the 16:9 devices the Steam Deck is being compared against.

For example in a video DF released yesterday "we're benching exclusively in 720p here." 12:34

A lot of people also do use  their Steam Deck docked. It is a very common option for Mac-primary users, for example, who want to play games but don't want to get a Gaming PC or consoles.

I would not use 30fps->60fps frame generation in any comparisons largely because it is contentious on whether or not that is a viable way to play a game, even if on a handheld.

I take your point that some people will use the Steam Deck docked but surely 99% of the point of the device is portable gaming. It makes a great portable gaming system but a rubbish docked system. I've only recently got a steam deck so bear that in mind but have no intention of ever using it docked as I have much more powerful PCs to play games on. As for frame generation I can see it being worthwhile but I can also see it not being worthwhile I guess it really depends on the game and how much input latency it adds. Some games seem to have extra frames at very little cost, maybe some spare CPU or GPU resources that can be utilised. It still seems strange to me to compare systems clearly designed for portable use with regard docked performance. Yes I realise you can't get hdmi output on Switch 2 with portable gaming mode (I assume) so really it needs to be shown with the use of a camera to be realistic. Maybe they should all be shown with camera footage to be fair. Digital Foundry stated in a recent video that the Switch 2 frame rate tanks under really extreme fire fights with a lot of people on screen and outside and that would be also good to show in a video how the game fairs under more extreme load. I have a mini pc with a Ryzen 7 5700u and even that with its Vega graphics has upscaling and frame generation as you can see from this video and can deliver a good Cyberpunk experience at 720p. It was only £130 from Aliexpress in 16GB/512GB storage configuration however it came with one single 16GB sodimm so had to buy another to get dual channel memory which was £16 I think from CEX to get full performance. The point is this doesn't even have the RDNA 2.0 graphics of Steam Deck. Cyberpunk well configured on PC can perform far better than Switch 2 in my opinion. The 5700U is twice as powerful as Steam Deck in CPU performance but doesn't have the quad channel memory of Steam Deck and also the GPU gflops is about 2 Teraflops on 5700U rather than the 1.6Teraflops on Steam Deck but its on inferior Vega graphics architecture. Of course its docked performance only for me although from what I understand the 5700U chipset can deliver as much as 3hrs of gaming on the right laptop. I personally would expect the Steam Deck to deliver a more robust portable gaming experience than Switch 2 with the correct configuration but that is against Switch 2 portable performance not docked performance.
