What has Sony done to maintain a life in the console business that has left so many failed companies in its wake? Are the things Sony has done different than what Nintendo has done and would either strategy have worked for the other? |
I think a part of it has to be their understand of hardware, they are pretty darn good at it.
The 2nd thing is I think Story Telling is at the heart of Sony themselves.
(some of their titles are quite memorable and feel impactful, as works of art almost).
Another is I think they generally really care about their platform and having it be "the place to be" as developers.
They are great at fostering a good environment for developers (ei. they put in much more work, in regards to 3rd party than Xbox or Nintendo do).
So its a mix of alot of small things (that they are just slightly better at than others) instead of really 1 big thing, that just leads them to success.
I will say that they have been kinda lucky.... Xbox has made alot more "mistakes" in my opinion than say Sony.
Do nothing? profit? (ei. just fumble the ball less than the others)
They have generally a good mix of games, and always have. So it has abit of something for everyone.
They by far do the most when it comes to localisations (of the 3 console makers we have).
Its just there.... and it works?
