Israel’s attacks on Lebanon continue in violation of truce

In the latest two attacks on its neighbour earlier today, Israeli forces have killed two people and wounded another in southern Lebanon.

This comes a day after an Israeli strike also killed two people in Lebanon’s southern region of Nabatieh.

Lebanon says the attacks breach a ceasefire deal that was announced on November 2, 2024 after more than a year of cross-border fighting between Hezbollah and Israel that started on October 8, 2023, the day after the latter launched its war on Gaza.

Exchange of fire continued until September 2024 when an Israeli military intensification and subsequent invasion killed about 4,000 people in Lebanon, wounded  thousands more and displaced hundreds of thousands.

More than 150 people have been killed in Israeli attacks in Lebanon since the ceasefire agreement.

Much of Hezbollah’s senior military leadership, including Hassan Nasrallah, the group’s secretary-general, had been killed by Israel before the deal.
