Israeli army intensifies raids in occupied West Bank

  • Israeli forces have arrested at least 15 Palestinians during a large-scale raid in the city of el-Bireh and the Jalazone refugee camp, which is located to the north of Ramallah, according to Wafa.
  • It has also tightened its military measures around Ramallah and el-Bireh by setting up checkpoints and causing large-scale traffic.
  • A similar scene has been reported in Qalandiya refugee camp, where Israeli forces have blocked streets and fired tear gas.
  • Raids are also reported in Kafr Nima, west of Ramallah, as well as surrounding villages.
  • Israeli settlers uprooted 150 Palestinian-owned olive trees in Umm al-Khair village in Masafer Yatta, to the south of Hebron.

Israeli military and settlers carry out more raids across West Bank

Israeli settlers have stormed the Palestinian community of Khirbet Samra in the northern Jordan Valley, Wafa reports. Local sources said the settlers entered the area, causing fear and panic among residents, particularly women and children.

In a separate incident, Israeli forces raided the Bedouin village of Balqa, north of Jericho, in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Hassan Malihat, general supervisor of Al-Baidar Organization for the Defense of Bedouin Rights, told Wafa that soldiers searched homes in the area and subjected residents to field interrogations. He said the men were also physically assaulted during the raid.

Elsewhere, Israeli forces carried out a series of incursions across the Ramallah and el-Bireh governorates, raiding several neighbourhoods, detaining Palestinians, closing shops and blocking movement between communities.

According to the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society, at least 35 citizens were arrested from the West Bank since Monday evening.

In Hebron, Israeli forces arrested one Palestinian from the Tel Rumeida neighbourhood and imposed a curfew on several areas east of the city.

At least 41 children have been killed this year by Israeli fire in the occupied West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem, according to UNCEF.

Some of the boys and girls were killed during Israeli military raids, while others were killed in settler attacks. A number of them were shot while walking in their neighbourhoods, playing outside or staying in their homes.

“The situation in the West Bank including East Jerusalem, has significantly deteriorated,” UNICEF spokesperson Ricardo Pires told Al Jazeera.
