Got a decent amount of time in for GoY after a busy weekend.
Its head and shoulders above GoT. The freedom of the open world is engaging, the sense of discovery is still unmatched, with little additions like the spyglass and campfires, with returning features like no map markers and guiding winds, its take on the open world formula is so refreshing. On top of visuals that are absolutely gorgeous. The combat is still brutal and satisfying, with more weapons instead of stances, but the enemies hit so much harder. I'm not sure if this is mostly an early game thing before you upgrade your stats, armor, charms, etc. The narrative so far is gripping, with the opening sequence setting the tone, similar to GoT. But the way you gather hints and clues to advance the story, and opening up the map, is so much more immersive.
Can't forget about the use of the Dualsense either. The way Sucker Punch has implemented the touch pad is fun and creative in many ways. Using it for the campfire is really the only instance I don't like lol. Haptics continue to shine, but I'm a little disappointed with the use of the adaptive triggers, and I'm hoping its because I'm still early on in the game. This game just hits on so many different levels.
