Trump says ‘Middle East could very well be solved’
The White House has shared a short clip of an interview Trump gave to the far-right news outlet One America News Network, touting his efforts to end global conflicts.
“It looks like the Middle East could very well be solved after 3,000 years approximately,” he said. “We’re going to have more than Gaza. We’re going to have Gaza plus peace – overall peace. That would be an amazing achievement.”
This isn’t the first time Trump has falsely said the Israeli-Palestinian conflict goes back thousands of years, with the US president making a similar comment earlier this week.
Israel was established in 1948. The first Arab-Israeli war took place that year, which also saw the forced displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from their towns by Zionist forces.
The first half of the 20th century did see clashes between Palestinians and Zionist colonists. But the Zionist movement itself was founded in the 1800s, and the First Zionist Congress was not held until 1897 – far from 3,000 years ago.
"We've put out seven wars — now it could be eight... It looks like the Middle East could very well be solved," says @POTUS.

FIFA president says football association cannot solve geopolitical problems
Gianni Infantino has sought to sidestep criticism that the global football governing body has refused to suspend Israel over atrocities in Gaza, despite suspending Russia after its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
“At FIFA, we are committed to using the power of football to bring people together in a divided world,” Infantino told a FIFA Council meeting in Zurich, adding that the association cannot solve geopolitical issues.
“Our thoughts are with those who are suffering in the many conflicts that exist around the world today, and the most important message that football can convey right now is one of peace and unity.”
So let Russia back? Boycott FIFA.
The most important message that anyone can convey right now is that genocide and starvation can not be tolerated.
