French foreign minister says Hamas must accept ‘surrender’
Jean-Noel Barrot says the Palestinian group, which is studying Trump’s Gaza proposal, “has lost” and must surrender.
As we’ve been reporting, the 20-point US plan says Hamas must have no role in the future governance of Gaza, which will undergo a “demilitarisation” process.
Hamas members who commit to peaceful co-existence and to decommission their weapons will be given amnesty, the plan also states, while members of Hamas who wish to leave Gaza will be provided safe passage to receiving countries.
“Hamas bears a very heavy responsibility for the catastrophe experienced by the Palestinians,” Barrot told the AFP news agency. “It has lost. It must accept its own surrender.”
No, you must abide by the Geneva conventions and end the genocide. Hamas is merely the excuse for continued ethnocide.
Ask the original people of the USA / Canada / Africa / Australia / New Zealand what this 'peaceful co-existence' is like...
Egypt says trying to convince Hamas to support US proposal
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has said his country is working alongside Qatar and Turkiye to convince Hamas to support Trump’s Gaza plan.
“We are meeting with them,” Abdelatty said during an event in France. “We are coordinating with our brothers in Qatar and also our colleagues in Turkiye, in order to, you know, convince Hamas to respond positively with this plan.”
Abdelatty says Cairo will not allow Palestinians to be displaced from the Gaza Strip “under any circumstances”.
“Displacement will not happen. It will not happen because displacement means the end of the Palestinian cause,” Abdelatty said at the French Institute of International Relations. “We will not allow this to happen under any circumstances.”
Israel has been pushing to displace Palestinians from Gaza City and other areas as part of what observers said is a plan to ethnically cleanse and seize control of the territory. Trump previously floated the idea of pushing people out of Gaza to turn the enclave into the “Riviera of the Middle East”, but his recent 20-point plan states that no one will be forced to leave the Strip.
Egypt doesn't care about the so called 'peace' plan, only cares about refugees and keeping their payouts from the USA.
