There have been a handful of startups recently formed to start utilizing the process you mentioned in the picture you copied. And at least they think that this method of producing gold will be profitable. Since you are mentioning fusion, I can use this as an example since it was thought to be unfeasible until recently and now we have commercial projects incoming. So, while that doesn't mean it will necessarily happen, it does give me enough reason to not invest in gold or even gold funds.
