UK doctors join largest ever healthcare action for Gaza
Thousands of healthcare workers across the UK took part in the largest coordinated professional action in solidarity with Gaza ever organised.
Vigils were held outside Royal Colleges in London, Edinburgh, Belfast, and Cardiff, demanding urgent intervention over Gaza’s collapsing health system. In London, healthcare professionals gathered outside the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.
More than 5,000 UK doctors have signed petitions delivered to every Royal College, calling for accountability and urgent action. Since Israel’s assault on Gaza began nearly two years ago, hospitals have been bombed, doctors targeted, and more than 1,600 health workers killed.
Paediatricians warn Israel’s enforced starvation is now hitting Gaza’s children the hardest. Among those who spoke at the vigil is British Palestinian war surgeon Dr Ghassan Abu Sittah, who has treated children pulled from the rubble of Gaza’s hospitals.
