This may be a bad time to bring up that I had a good deal with my parents where I'd replace nearly my entire computer and then reconstruct the old parts for my parents to replace their old Dell. That way the old parts still have a use and aren't left to rot under dust piles.
Aside from the parts I already have (speakers, cheap sound card, and video card), I bought and built what I'm currently using for $578.35. I'm hoping to work a little bit so I could get a new video card (maybe a 8800gt) for around $150 or so and that would make the build cost $728.25. With my current 7800gt, I can run Call of Duty 4 with generally high settings and get around 30-50 FPS (depending on what's going on). I don't think I played Crysis with my new parts, but with the same video and the old parts, I was getting around 20-30 FPS on medium (something a shiney new 8800gt, or better, should fix).
I really only use Newegg. Still, I'll try to find the rebate and/or free shipping deals when I buy things (assuming the product reviews are favorable).
