Israeli troops raid multiple areas in Bethlehem
Israeli forces carried out raids in several areas in the occupied West Bank’s Bethlehem, the Palestinian news agency Wafa reports.
Soldiers entered the Khalayel al-Louz area southeast of the city and set up a military checkpoint, stopped vehicles and checked residents’ IDs, causing heavy traffic congestion.
Soldiers also raided the villages of Artas and al-Ubayyat where they tore down posters of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces. Incursions and arrest campaigns across West Bank towns and villages have surged in frequency and scale since the war on Gaza began.
Israeli army kills Palestinian in occupied West Bank
The Israeli army has shot dead a Palestinian man near the al-Murabba’a checkpoint, southwest of Nablus in the occupied West Bank, according to Wafa news agency.
Amid Ahmed, director of the Red Crescent’s Emergency and Ambulance Centre in Nablus, said Israeli soldiers prevented his crew from reaching the site of the shooting.
The Health Ministry identified the dead man as Ahmed Shehadeh, 57, adding the military seized his body.
In a separate statement, the Israeli army said it killed “a terrorist” near Burin, which is in the Nablus governorate.
Settlers attack Palestinians in the occupied West Bank
Israeli settlers descended on the Palestinian village of Khallet A-Daba in the occupied West Bank, attacking residents with clubs and pepper spray.
Video obtained from Palestinian activist Adeeb Huraini, 26, showed an older man with cuts on his head and leg, and a woman whose headscarf was soaked in blood. Another video shows Basel Adra, a local activist, holding a baby with blood on its head, calling for help and saying there is “a lot of blood”. Adra said nine Palestinians were hospitalized after the attack.
Adra helped direct No Other Land, an Oscar-winning documentary about settler violence in the area. The Israeli military demolished much of the village last month.
Israel carried out more than 19,000 arrests since war on Gaza began
The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society says Israeli forces have made more than 19,000 arrests across the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, since the genocidal war on Gaza began 700 days ago.
It said the figure does not include arrests in Gaza itself, where the number is believed to be in the thousands, according to a statement carried by news agency Wafa.
Israeli authorities have classified 2,662 detainees from Gaza as “unlawful combatants”, though rights groups say the true number is far higher because of enforced disappearances.
At least 585 women and 1,550 children have been detained in the occupied West Bank since October 2023, it said.
The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society also reported 77 Palestinians have died in Israeli custody during this period, including 46 from Gaza. The bodies of 74 of those who died remain withheld by Israel, alongside at least 85 other prisoners whose remains are being kept from their families.
