I have been this way for a while now. I actually stopped gaming for a few years while in Uni, and now I just steam game. Pretty much everything is on steam except for a few exclusives and Nintendo games. And now with steam deck everything can be portable to some extent. Most laptops and desktops can play most of what's on steam. |
5 years into the Xbox 360 and Xbox One life cycles I had about 200~ physical games.
Xbox Series? I have about 40.
I bought all the big hitters on Switch on the day of release... This time? The only 3rd party game I have bought is Cyberpunk because everything else isn't on cart.
Playstation 5 is fairing a little better, I am at about 80 physical games, but that's down from the several hundred I had on previous consoles.
I am actually spending less overall, because publishers don't care about physical media, so I don't care about buying them.
Still excited for next gen, but I'll be strictly PC I think for both my handheld and fixed devices, I have over 30 years worth of games I can draw from and bring forwards.
