This just seems to be regurgitating part of MLID leaks. Except they are counting the WGPs as CUs which results the in CU count being halved. It should be 192, 80, 48, and 24. |
I know it's very early on when it comes to RDNA5/UDNA leaks, but that CU configuration makes me somewhat worried, unless Darc Requiem's point is true.
After all, and assuming that the 96 CU chip will be used for both the 10090 and 10080 GPUs, that leaves us 40 CUs for the 10070 cards when the 9070XT has 64 CUs. Will AMD be able to repeat, for a second time in a row, the feat of increasing the performance per core so much so that it can beat the previous card featuring more cores (the 9070XT beats the 7800XT despite one having 64 and the other 96 CUs)?
But again, if they are actually 80 CUs, that would make more sense. At least, with a 192-bit memory bus size, that means the 10070 could get 24GB of VRAM.
Still, I don't like the big jump between the two top tier chips, with the big one being more than twice the size of the other.
In any case, it's still too soon to know for sure. Things may change once the first samples are made and AMD may make some changes here and there.

I'm having a hard time figuring what AMD is trying to do with this one.
The 9070 GRE and the 9070 non-XT are already quite close in terms of performance, with the memory configuration being their biggest difference so, why change that to make it more complicated? At this point, it would make more sense to just kill the 9070GRE and cut the price of the base 9070... although AMD would need to finally be able to get enough of those chips to the cards could come close to MSRP.
Please excuse my bad English.
