For those wondering why now...

PS5 had 3 month's of stockpiled units back on May 14.

Now 3 months have passed, the stockpile is running low, they need to ship more, thus increasing the price.

They had enough stockpile for US for 3 months, now that stockpile is running low, these PS5s were stockpiled pre-tariff madness, any PS5's after will have the cost of tariffs applied to them, that is why the price increase has happened now, I for one did not know they had 3 months worth of stockpile so it now makes sense why they lasted longer than I thought they would.

Xbox on the other hand, has been cutting back on Xbox manufacturing, so they likely don't have much stockpile, not because it's in high demand but because it simply isn't being made, Lol. Microsoft for the past year or so has been essentially making the bare minimum of what they need to make to sell to consumers, likely in an effort to cut production costs.

I lean towards Nintendo not increasing Switch 2 prices (yet), they've been doing everything in their power to avoid doing exactly that, such as increasing prices everywhere else, Lmao. But I think if this tariff madness extends into 2026 then there's a good chance that Switch 2 will see a price increase sometime in 2026 but for the first year they're going to want to sell as many as possible and have a big launch.

Nintendo tends to sell their hardware at a decent profit though so Switch 2 can probably take the hit longer.

Personally, I'm going to buy a Switch 2 now though, if only due to fear that the price will increase eventually, Lmao. I think that's funnily the most economically sensible decision to make in the current times, there's a bigger chance of Switch 2 increasing in price than decreasing in price so I better get in now. I think Nintendo will wait a while...But I don't if I should risk it.
